Letter from our Director

October 2008

Riders:

We had a couple of our Riders participate in the Remembrance Run sponsored by the Bremerton Riders. Geezer and Chief spent the night in Vancouver WA and road with the group from Oregon to the Canadian border and ate dinner in Bellingham, then rode home. A nice day for a long ride.

Chief also participated in a couple of the Patriot Guard Riders cere-monies honoring our deceased brothers. For more information on PGR, contact Chief or Geezer.

The Snoqualmie Riders also met to do part of our annual planning meeting in September. We decided on two benefit runs for next year:

  1. The second annual “Over the Hill for Lunch Bunch” which is a poker run over Snoqualmie Pass, to Cle Elum, along the river into Ellensburg and down the Yakima River to Yakima and return to Ellensburg for lunch at the Ellensburg Post, back to our post for prizes. We are planning this for May 2009,

  1. The first ever “Triple By-Pass” overnight benefit run in August 2009 will be a three pass, overnight in Chelan run.

In addition, we determined to have our fun runs be very Veteran oriented. In November this year we are planning on doing our joint Auxiliary, Post and Riders “Wounded Warrior” visit and donation at Ft. Lewis at the Wounded Warrior Transition Battalion. We have a wish list from them and will purchase items off the wish list to donate to the battalion and will spend several hours with them and find out who needs help when they get home and provide some of that help and camaraderie.

November is also the Veterans Day Celebration in Auburn. We participated in the parade last year and this year we are joining up with several other Riders groups to

participate this year. We are already registered for the parade. This whole celebration in Auburn is a fantastic day of events honoring veterans; we had a great time last year, but dress warmly!

In December of this year we would like to do a run to Orting VA Retirement Center. Padre is working on Starbucks Card donations and Tim is working on Costco donations for that run, especially chocolate chip cookies!

Also in December, we will participate in the VA Hospital Christmas Day event. I know two people in our Post who have Santa suits! It was really great fun and rewarding last year. I know one Rider is having a new Santa suit commissioned to be built that will stand up to 70 mph on a motorcycle, with a Santa hat to fit on his half helmet!

Come join us for fun and interesting Veteran oriented rides and benefit runs to help other Vets.

Yours in service to God and Country,

Rich Collingwood, Director
